Because of near total communication in the world today, I believe it highly unlikely that ordinary people in Muslim countries (or any countries!) will any longer permit dictators to use religion as a weapon to stir people to fanatacism. Iran's religious authoritarianism will surely fall in time, having tasted that possibility two years ago, if they can be kept at bay a while longer while their neighboring authoritarian countries are falling as we speak. The preemptive action that the US has taken since 9/11 will, in my opinion, eventually prove to have been a major positive step toward world peace.
